Dem Bones

There's a song in each one's bones. If you get it right, your bones will rejoice. If you get it wrong, the song will stay in your bones, but no one will hear it.

Blood cries out from the ground because we got the song wrong. Blood from above quiets the cries, down to the silent bones.

Let all mortal flesh keep silent and listen.

I heard Cynthia Clawson in concert when I was in nursing school. Her singing of this 4th century Greek hymn helps bridge the gap between what I was looking for back then and what I've found now in Orthodoxy.
